Isla Tabarca, also known as Tabarca Island, is a small rocky island located in the Mediterranean Sea, off the southeastern coast of Spain.
The island has a rich history. It was originally known as Planesia and was inhabited by the Romans. Later, it became a refuge for Barbary pirates. In 1768, King Charles III of Spain ordered the island to be fortified and settled by Genoese families from the island of Tabarka, off the coast of Tunisia. Since then, it has been known as Tabarca.
Isla Tabarca is known for its crystal-clear waters and diverse marine life, making it a popular destination for snorkeling and diving. The island is part of a protected marine reserve, the Tabarca Marine Reserve (Reserva Marina de Tabarca).
We will go by bus to Santa Pola where we will take the catamaran to the island. We will spend the whole day on this beautiful island.
Avenida Aragon, 31 (in front of Mestalla)

Travel equipement: backpack, camera and comfortable shoes
Swimwear: towels, sunscreen, snorkelling equipment
Food and drinks (There are many restaurants but we recommend bringing your own food to save money and to be flexible towards the group)
We meet in front of Mestalla (Avenida de Aragon, 31). The bus journey lasts approximately 2 hours 30 minutes.
We arrive in Santa Pola. We will have a small break in the middle of the trip to go to the toilet and change clothes. When we arrive, we will take the catamaran to go to the island (30 min).
We arrive and discover the island. We will snorkel in the crystal clear water. We think this is one of the best activities to do in Tabarca. Besides that, we walk around the village, visit its lighthouse and tower and take pictures of the city and its beautiful streets.
We’ll take the ferry again for 30 minutes.
We’re taking the bus and heading back to Valencia (about 2 hours 30 min).
