Montanejos, Valencia

Montanejos is a full-day nature adventure in the heart of the Valencian Community. Relax by the blue lagoon, admire the breathtaking Salto de la Novia waterfall, or take part in hiking, rafting, and kayaking. Along the way, meet fellow travelers, practice languages, and share unforgettable moments with people from all over the world. 
We have two type of trips from Valencia, almost everyday from April – October. 

Option 1 (Adventure) : Montanejos + Adventure Activities (Choose Hike/Raft/Kayak)

For adrenaline seekers, Montanejos offers adventure in its crystal-clear rivers. Choose one activity: Hike 7 km through scenic trails / Rafting on exciting rapids / Kayaking along the lake. 

After the activity, unwind by the blue lagoon, connect with fellow travelers, and enjoy a snack at a riverside chiringuito (snack bar) — an ideal active day trip from Valencia.

Option 2(Relax): Montanejos + Salto de la Novia

Discover the beauty of Montanejos and visit the stunning Salto de la Novia, where water drops 60 meters into a calm river. Enjoy the thermal waters, explore the charming village, and relax at a riverside chiringuito — a perfect day trip from Valencia.

Choose your options carefully, after it won’t be possible to change it.

  • For everyone: • Swimsuit, towel, sunscreen • Food and plenty of water • Extra clothes and shoes
  • Hiking group: • All of the above + proper sports/hiking shoes (mandatory)
  • Rafting & Kayak groups: • All of the above + shoes that can get wet (hard sole, not water shoes – mandatory) • All other equipment provided by the company • Don’t forget dry clothes for after the activity

Montanejos + Activities (Hike/Raft/Kayak)

Departure from Valencia

We meet at 08:15 in front of Mestalla (Avenida de Argon, 31). 

Arrival in Montanejos

We arrive around 10:30 and We will stop to have a coffee use rest rooms change etc..

Adventurous activities

Next: We will separate groups for different activities. Whoever has chosen Rafting / Kayaking goes with the sports company to do their chosen activity.
Hiking people will go with the Hiking guide. 

Picnic and Blue Lagoon Time

After activities: After having finished with the activities, we returned to the lake / River beach where we will bathe, we will have a picnic enjoy Swimming in Spring /termal water. 

16:30 Heading back to Valencia

We will meet at the bus at 16:30 to head back to Valencia.

Montanejos + Salto De novia

Departure from Valencia

We meet at 08:45 in front of Mestalla (Avenida de Argon, 31). 

10:00 Salto de la Novia

Around 10:00 we will be arrving at Salto de la novia,  where we will admire 2 waterfalls  one of them impressive 60mts high, If hot day also a small swimming.

11:30 Leave for Montanejos

After enjoying the waterfall we will leave for montanejos. On Arrival we will go directly to picnic, eat something and after enjoy swimming in  the Spring lake and termal water. 

15:00 Surprise location

15:00 we will bring you very beautiful location to enjoy the scenery and of course do some photos for best memories. 

15:45 / 16:00 Leaving for Valencia

Just after enjoying the scenic view, we will leave for valencia. 
We will reach valencia around 17:00 / 17:30.

Montanejos + Adventure Activities

Montanejos is a gem of the Valencian Community, where adventure lovers can find a wonderful place to experience something fascinating. The crystal-clear colors of its waters allow for more than just swimming and relaxing. The hiking route that crosses the mountain offers stunning panoramic views of the town, the Mijares River. Rafting in Montanejos offers an adrenaline-filled adventure, enjoying stunning natural scenery and discover hidden corners of the river while Kayak is the relaxing activity what offers you stunning views of reservoir.

Optional Activities:
  • Hiking (Montanejos + Hiking): We will take a hiking route through the mountain. The route is approximately 6 km with a medium level of difficulty. The activity lasts 2-3 hours.
  • Rafting (Montanejos + Rafting): For rapid lovers, the rafting activity lasts approximately 3 hours and includes a level II level. The activity is suitable for beginners but you need to know how to swim. The activity lasts 3 hours and is paid separately. 
  • Kayaking (Montanejos + Kayaking): Kayak activity is in Still water of the reservoir (the kayak is paid separately). The activity lasts 2-3 hours.

Hiking

Route with beautiful views of the canyons, the valley & and the Mijares River.

We will visit the Black cave and enjoy a powerfull imprissive waterspout  throwing 41,000 litres per second. 

And later on we will enjoy the hot springs and have a picnic.

Kayaking

Kayak (Canoa) in the calm water of Arenoso reservoir of Montanejos, abeautiful place of natural beauty. After the activity we will enjoy the hot springs, have a picnic. 

This activity is made in collaboration with an adventure sports company and includes insurance, instructors and all needed material for the activity, such vests and helmets.

Rafting

An activity full of adrenaline in the rapids of the Mijares river to live an unforgettable day.

The activity is organized in collaboration with an experienced adventure sport company from Montanejos, with qualified guides and all the needed material.

It is class II level of rafting. It is not necessary to have previous experience, but you should be physically fit and know how to swim.

Equipment (wetsuit, vest, paddle, helmet, boat), insurance and photos are included in the price.

Salto de Novia

The Salto de la Novia gets its name from a tragic local legend. A bride once had to jump across the river to prove her love. She fell, and her groom jumped after her. Their story lives on, and the waterfall is said to resemble a bride’s veil.

Montanejos Springs

An inscription tells the legend of King Abú Zayd, the last Almohad ruler of Valencia: in the 13th century, he built these Arab baths to keep his favorites beautiful and youthful.

Do I need to be in good shape to do the hiking route?

Yes, it is necessary to be in good physical condition to do the hiking route.

What is the difficulty level of the hiking route?

You can find all the information related to the route in the “Route description” section above (Distance, difficulty, map, time, etc.).

What do I need to do the route?

You can check the “What to bring” and “Route description” sections, where everything you need for the excursion will be clearly mentioned. You will also receive an email after booking with detailed information.

Do I need to know how to use the map?

It’s not necessary to know how to use the map, as the mountain excursions include a professional mountain guide. However, if you do know, it’s always recommended.

FAQ

How can you book the trip?

You can book on the website or at our office in Plaza Honduras, 26 from 09:30 to 14:30.

Do I have to book in advance or can I pay on the day of travel?

Yes, it is necessary to book in advance, as we cannot guarantee that there will be places available on that day.

What are the cancellation policies?

Up to one week before the event: 100% refund, either in cash or as a credit voucher, based on your preference.
From one week to 72 hours before: 100% refund only as a credit voucher.
Less than 72 hours before: No refunds.
In case of a medical emergency or force majeure (with valid proof), or  due to weather conditions, the event will be rescheduled, or the credit voucher will be issued for use within one year.

Proof of emergency must be submitted before the event. No refunds after the event.

Where does the bus leave from?

Normally our buses leave from Avenida Aragón 31 (Mestalla). However, after booking, you will receive all the details with the ticket by email (please check your spam folder in case you receive the email immediately after booking).
