One of the most beautiful hikes near Valencia: the Peñaescabia Route in Bejís (Castellón) is a true hidden gem you shouldn’t miss. This charming village in the province of Castellón, thanks to its unique topography, is home to rich plant life, diverse wildlife, and breathtaking mountain scenery.

Our hike starts from the village of Bejís or the Fuente de los Cloticos and offers multiple route options. You can enjoy a full circular hike or choose shorter variants that lead to incredible spots such as the village of El Molinar, the source of the Palancia River, the Barranco del Resinero gorge, or the summit of Peñaescabia.

The Peñaescabia Municipal Natural Park spans 475 hectares on the slopes of the Sierra de El Toro. Its impressive peak, rising 1,331 meters, rewards hikers with panoramic views that make the climb worthwhile. Along the way, we’ll walk alongside the Palancia River, explore mountain trails, and, for the most adventurous, reach the summit to enjoy an unforgettable view from the top.

Description of the hike

Distance: 15.95km (circular route)

Elevation gain: 1km (1012 Mts)

Difficulty: medium-high (You have to be physically fit and requires apropiate footwear and sun protection)

During the hike you will have the choice to either continue until the mountain peak or take the normal route.

08:30 Meeting in Valencia

We meet at 08:30 in front of Mestalla (Avenida de Argon, 31). A small introduction to the group and we leave for the hike.

Arrival, break and start of the hike

On arrival in Bejis, we will go for a coffee and just after we will start the hike. On the way we will do the lunch break.

Finish the trek, say bye bye and come back to Valencia

Finish the trek, we will go for a drink and head back to Valencia.

How can you book the trip?

You can book on the website or at our office in Plaza Honduras, 26 from 09:30 to 14:30.

Do I have to book in advance or can I pay on the day of travel?

Yes, it is necessary to book in advance, as we cannot guarantee that there will be places available on that day.

What are the cancellation policies?

Cancellation policy: Until one week before, 100% refund in form of money/voucher whatever you prefer. From 1 week to 72 hours before 100% only in form of voucher. After 72 hours NO REFUND.

In case of medical emergency / Force Majeure (With justification) 24 hours before only voucher after NO REFUND.

Where is the meeting point in Valencia ?

Normally we leave from Avenida Aragón 31 (Mestalla). However, after booking, you will receive all the details with the ticket by email (please check your spam folder in case you receive the email immediately after booking).
