Hiking Excursion to Pico de Espadan

Hello hikers,
This time we are going to a beautiful Peak of Espadan which is unique by its characteristics and is famous for the forest of centennial cork oaks as well as its dense vegetation of the coastline.
The circular route is simple, although we will have to face some slopes or rocky ground during the hike. We will reach Pico de Espadan, which is the highest point of the route and be at 1100 meters high with a magnificent 360° panoramic view. From there you can enjoy the view of other peaks like Penyagolosa, Puntal de l’Aljub, Benalí as well as Mediterranean Sea and Sierra Calderona.
Along the way we will pass remains of the wall built in Medieval times, ancient shepherd’s shelters, old coal bunker, charcoal maker’s hut; a Chestnut tree unique due to its many trunks and the Almanzor fountain.

Food and drink: Bring food and drinks from home because we will walk a lot and we will not stop at any restaurant.
Suitable shoes: sports or mountain shoes, but please no slippers.
Clothes: swimwear, wear comfortable / sports clothing. Do not forget to bring a jacket because it might get cold.
