The San Juan festival in Valencia, also known as the Feast of Saint John, is a vibrant and exhilarating celebration that takes place on the night of June 23rd. It marks the summer solstice and is deeply rooted in traditional customs and folklore. The festivities revolve around bonfires, fireworks, and parties held on the city’s beaches and in various neighborhoods.
At midnight, the sky over Valencia comes alive with an incredible display of fireworks that illuminates the entire city. The spectacle is accompanied by cheers and applause from the enthusiastic crowds. After the fireworks, many people head to the beach to take a dip in the Mediterranean Sea, symbolizing a fresh start and renewal.

Event description

San Juan is the shortest night of the year and probably one of the most intense.
In Valencia, it is celebrated by lighting bonfires by the sea. Everyone goes to the beach to eat and drink together. At night there are rituals, for example jumping the bonfires, waves and asking for wishes etc.
We are going to celebrate together with local and international friends of Valencia Language Exchange.
