Elche, declared a World Heritage Site in 2000, is called, the Oasis of Mediterranean. It is also very well known because of its palm grove, the biggest one in Europe with more than two hundred thousand palm trees. These palms were planted at the time of the Muslim occupation in the Iberian Peninsula. They have strongly contributed to the cultural heritage of this city, which is the third most important city of the Comunidad Valenciana.
Elche has also a wonderful botanical garden, el Jardin Huerto del Cura, which presents all the species of plants of the region, and there is notably an imperial palm tree. Some of the species are over 300 years old. 
What to see in Elche:  Palmeral de Elche,  Jardin El Huerto del Cura, El Parque Municipal, Basilica de Santa Maria, Palacio de Altamira.

Program:

09:00 Leaving Valencia
Meeting time 8:45 in Avenida Aragon, 31. Leaving time: 09:00.
11:00 Arrival to Elche
Around 11:00 we will arrive to Elche. We will have a small break and guided tours. We will divide in 2 groups – Spanish & English. If you don’t want the guided tour you can have free time for yourself.
11:30 Guided tours in Elche
We will again divide in 2 groups – Spanish & English. If you don’t want the guided tour you can have your free time.
13:00 Visit Elche and lunch.
After the guided tours we will have time to explore this beautiful city and have lunch. In the bus the coordinator will tell you the best places.
15:00 Leaving for Santa pola
We will leave at 15:00 – around 15:30 we will arrive in Santa Pola.
15:30 - 18:30 Visiting old center / Beach
Santa Pola has one of the best beaches with view on Isla Tabarca, lovely Faro and beautiful city center.
18:30 Vamos a Valencia
We will say goodbye to Santa Pola, and we are heading to Valencia.
SANTA POLA
This town is perfect to enjoy a peaceful afternoon, you will find beautiful white sand beaches and a very pleasant port. The beaches of Santa Pola have a blue flag, which means that they are really clean beaches with good environmental quality. 
We can also find Roman archaeological remains, and other historical remains since the history of this town go back to the 4th century BC.
The beautiful port of Santa Pola was of primary importance in the development of maritime trade in the region. 
Beach tools: If the weather permits we can spend time on the beach.
Food and water: You can bring your own food or buy something in Elche.
Bring comfortable shoes because we are going to walk.
