**Santiago de Compostela**
Santiago de Compostela is the endpoint of the Camino de Santiago. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this city enchants visitors with its stone buildings, narrow streets lined with artisan shops, its stunning cathedral, and renowned cuisine, including the famous Tarta de Santiago. Beyond the cathedral, you’ll find impressive historic sites such as the Hostal dos Reis, the Casa do Cabido, the Monastery of San Paio de Antealtares, and the bustling Mercado de Abastos.
**Monte Aloia**
Designated as Galicia’s first Natural Park, Monte Aloia is known for its extraordinary biodiversity and a climate that supports lush, forested landscapes. This environment, rich with native flora and fauna, offers a unique experience for nature lovers and hikers who can explore trails surrounded by dense vegetation and enjoy panoramic views. Monte Aloia is a green haven where history and nature converge, making this route a magical spot in the heart of Galicia.
**We will follow a scenic trail here,**
**Pontevedra**
As the capital of the Rías Baixas, Pontevedra invites you to savor its delicious cuisine and enjoy the lively atmosphere of its streets. The city boasts one of Galicia’s most beautiful and historic old quarters, with highlights like the impressive Church of San Francisco, the Basilica of Santa María la Mayor, the Sanctuary of La Peregrina, and the Pontevedra Museum.
Festivals such as Holy Week, Entroido, the Feira Franca, and the Virgen Peregrina celebrations fill Pontevedra’s streets with vibrant tradition, bringing locals together in a festive setting. Known as one of the world’s finest wines, Albariño is the perfect companion for the seafood you can enjoy in this charming city. Come and discover it!
**Vigo’s Christmas Lights**
Vigo’s Christmas display outshines even New York! In 2024, Vigo will feature 420 illuminated streets, 1,259 decorative arches, 2,674 light motifs, and 2,518 lit trees, totaling an incredible 11.5 million LED lights. Sculptural elements and large decorations will adorn markets, squares, and roundabouts, including 15 three-meter-high 3D displays and a grand Christmas tree in Porta do Sol. Although the ice rink at Plaza de Portugal will be removed, there will be new rinks at Vialia and Samil.
**Serra do Courel**
Serra do Courel captivates not only for its ethnographic significance but also as a stunning natural landscape. At its heart lies the Devesa da Rogueira, an iconic Galician forest and the first in Spain to be certified for biodiversity conservation. Lucky visitors may even spot wild bears here. This natural area, crossed by the Lor River, is renowned for its peaks—such as Formigueiros and Montouto—ideal for hiking. Its lush vegetation includes abundant heather and oaks, as well as forests of holm oaks and chestnut groves. The Devesa da Rogueira trail, considered an ecological gem, begins gently but grows more challenging, revealing glacial terraces that reward hikers’ efforts.
**Lugo and Terra Chá**
Lugo and Terra Chá are enchanting in winter. In Lugo, take a stroll along its impressive Roman walls, the only fully intact ones of their kind in the world. The city, a legacy of ancient Lucus Augusti, dazzles with its architecture, especially the cathedral and the medieval statue of the Virgen de los Ojos Grandes. Recharge with a tapas and wine tour in the vibrant historic center. Lugo also serves as the gateway to Terra Chá, an area known for its wetlands, spas, and archaeological sites.
**Our Hotels**
We have selected one of the finest hotels for your stay. You’ll spend 3 nights in Santiago de Compostela at the 4-star Eurostars San Lázaro, with breakfast included. Rooms are triple, but for an extra €7/night, a double room is available.
