Hiking Sierra de Espadàn

Hello Hikers!

This time, we are heading to the beautiful Peak of Espadán, renowned for its unique characteristics, including the ancient cork oak forests and dense coastal vegetation.
Sierra de espadan is famous for its amazing treks, you can find several trek and some are very very beautiful. You can spend weeks doing everyday new trek. Some of them are Castillo de castro, Chovar,Órganos de Benitandús, Piedra de cullera ,Barranco Ajuez, Peña Saganta, Alto de pipa etc… But ofcourse the top of these treks is PEAK OF ESPADAN, Where we will hike this time. 

About the Hike

A circular route where we will encounter some slopes and rocky terrain. Our goal is to reach Pico de Espadán, the highest point of the route at 1,100 meters, offering a magnificent 360° panoramic view. From the summit, you can see other peaks like Penyagolosa, Puntal de l’Aljub, Benalí, as well as the Mediterranean Sea and Sierra Calderona.

• Medieval Wall Remains: Explore the remnants of walls built in Medieval times.
• Ancient Shepherd’s Shelters: Discover old shelters used by shepherds.
• Old Coal Bunker and Charcoal Maker’s Hut: See historical structures from the region’s past.
• Unique Chestnut Tree: Discover a chestnut tree with multiple trunks, a rare sight.
• Almanzor Fountain: Enjoy the refreshing waters of this historic fountain.
