The Turrón Museum
This museum showcases the history and technology of turrón and marzipan production in Jijona. In this town, turrón has a soft texture and is made from a blend of roasted almonds, egg whites, and honey. This mixture is ground in special mills until it becomes a smooth, uniform paste, which is then cooked in pots called *boixets* and poured into molds. The complex process is detailed at the Turrón Museum, a point of pride for this small city of just 7,000 residents, though its region is one of the world’s leading turrón producers.
The Canelobre Caves
Located in Busot, 23 km from Alicante, the Canelobre Caves entrance is situated at 700 meters altitude on the northern slope of the Cabezón de Oro mountain range. The caves are renowned for their 70-meter-high vault, one of the tallest in Spain, resembling a cathedral’s dome. Visitors are treated to bizarre formations like chandeliers, jellyfish, and organs, and the magical lighting enhances the experience (sometimes even concerts are held here!).
